COURSES - Permaculture Design Certification

We’re now accepting registrations for our Spring permaculture design course (see
schedule below). Permaculture education is a great way to boost your sustainability,
self-reliance, and resilience. It’s practical and it’s fun.

San Antonio Permaculture Design Certification course (9 modules in 8 weekends).

Tuition: $400.00.

Additionally, we offer bi-monthly, specialized workshops.

72 hours of training is required to earn your permaculture design certificate. However,
we offer, bi-monthly, specialized bonus workshops. This gives you attendance and
scheduling flexibility, and allows us to provide you with the most comprehensive
learning experience possible.

Lunches may be purchased from our host, the SaaTea Restaurant and Tea House.

Time 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Class starts promptly at 8am; arrive anytime after 7:30am to get settled in, chat over
coffee/tea, etc. Bring your own lunch (and some to share with others if you like).

About the instructor:

The Permaculture Design Certification course is lead by Dodrick "doddi" Evans, who is
a certified permaculture teacher and has worked as a permaculture teacher and
designer in Portland, OR for several years.

Our course follows the internationally recognized curriculum outlined in Bill Mollison’s
Permaculture Design Manual. The course includes classroom instruction, hands-on
projects (including an actual site design project), guest speakers, field trips and much
more!

To allow flexibility and meet the demands of your challenging schedules, we will have a
makeup classes as needed on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

Feb 6 Morning Class – Orientation, introductions, state of the world — and our typical
responses, Introduction to Permaculture ethics and design principles,

Feb 6 Afternoon Class - Designing from patterns to details, Observations, pattern, and
design, Methods of design (hands-on site observation).

Feb 13 Morning Class – Ecosystems, bio-regions, climate, bio-geography, Soils, water
(incl. ponds, rainwater, greywater), earthworks.

Feb 13 Afternoon Class - Forests & trees, food forests, and edible landscaping, Use of
edible perennials, Small-animal systems, Small-scale, intensive cultivation.

Feb 20 – (Field Trip)

Feb 27 Morning Class – Techniques and strategies for the urban environment, Broad-
scale (rural/large-site) design, Wildlife management, Ponds, aquaculture, mariculture,
Natural building, green building.

Feb 27 Afternoon Class - “Waste” management, treatment, re-use, Biological “pest”
control, Designing / retrofitting your home.

March 6 Morning Class – Energy production and use.

March 6 Afternoon Class -  Appropriate technology.

March 13 –  Bonus: How to Build a Home-made Solar Panel WorkShop.

March 20 Morning Class – Invisible structures (laws/norms, institutions) toward more
sustainable arrangements.

March 20 Afternoon Class - Intentional communities, eco-cities, eco-villages.

March 21 –  (Field Trip)

March 27 Morning Class – Tools for the designer, Finding your right livelihood, The

Permaculture Design Certification Courses

A Permaculture Design Certification Course is an internationally recognized educational
certification in ecological and regenerative design, and is tremendously beneficial for
the hosting site, community, or organization on a number of different levels. As part of
the course participants work to learn valuable design skills and apply them directly
towards design projects and hands-on activities based on the needs of the hosting site
and local community.

Our permaculture design certification courses specialize in a wide range of holistic living
skills that include additional topics beyond the standard 72-hour permaculture design
course curriculum.
